Pune (Swati Patil Correspondent):
With the rapid expansion of Pune city, increasing population and the ever-growing number of vehicles, traffic congestion has become a major concern for citizens. Areas such as Baner, Balewadi, and Mhalunge face severe traffic bottlenecks, while the Dwarka area has turned into a daily testing point for both commuters and the traffic police.
In particular, Radha Chowk near Sadanand Hotel and the stretch under the NH4 highway witness massive traffic jams every day. To address this issue, Samir Baburao Chandere, President of the Nationalist Youth Congress Pune City, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajitdada Pawar. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister and Kothrud MLA Chandrakant Patil was also present.
Ajit Pawar has taken a firm stand to tackle Pune’s traffic congestion and provide much-needed relief to citizens. Against this backdrop, Samir Chandere presented a memorandum demanding the construction of:
A two-way bridge on the 36-meter-wide road connecting Mhalunge to Baner,
An underpass on the 24-meter-wide road in Balewadi, and
If these three infrastructural projects are implemented, traffic pressure from Wakad to Sus Khind will be significantly reduced, offering long-term relief to thousands of daily commuters, said Chandere in his memorandum.
After accepting the memorandum, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar assured that a detailed study would be undertaken through the concerned officials to identify practical solutions and implement appropriate measures. With this assurance, hopes have risen among citizens that the traffic congestion in the area will soon be eased.
Speaking on the occasion, Samir Chandere said:
“The traffic congestion in Baner-Balewadi-Mhalunge has been a longstanding issue. After placing concrete solutions before Ajitdada, he promptly took note of the matter and assured a detailed study followed by remedial action. I am sincerely grateful to him for his proactive response. Once these projects are executed, thousands of citizens will benefit from smoother travel, bringing them great relief in their daily lives.”
